See your match score & applyThe Immunization Specialist is responsible for providing professional leadership and contributing to the development, planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and administration of the Immunization programme within the country programme to achieve UNICEF’s immunization-plus goals and objectives. The role also ensures gender equality promotion within the programme.
Responsibilities
- Provide timely sectoral analysis, input, support and coordination contributing to the Situation Analysis with consistent integration of sex disaggregated data and its periodic update for effective project planning, development and management.
- Develop and implement immunization strategies in collaboration with partners.
- Lead work planning, objective setting, and provide technical leadership to achieve results.
- Monitor and evaluate programme implementation to improve delivery and sustainability.
- Provide technical support to government and NGOs, including capacity building.
- Build capacity of Country Office staff in programme management and implementation.
- Manage financial resources and ensure accountability for programme funds.
- Develop partnerships, advocacy, and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Manage information and monitoring systems to support programme performance.
- Prepare programme reports in line with guidelines and procedures.
- Coordinate emergency preparedness and response in humanitarian contexts.
- Perform other assigned duties and responsibilities effectively.
Requirements
- An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in public health, epidemiology, public administration, paediatric health, child development, child health, nutrition, social policy, social development, or community development is required.
- A minimum of five years of professional work experience at the national or international levels in planning, programming, implementation monitoring and evaluation of health/immunization programmes is required.
- Professional work experience in a technical expert position related to child survival & health care is required.
- Developing country work experience and background or familiarity with emergencies is required.
- Experience in immunization programmes, public health, epidemiological analysis, programme management, data analysis, or health systems is required.
- Proficiency in English is required.
- Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) is an asset.
- Experience in working in emergency settings, UN systems, health financing, multi-sectoral programmes, training programmes or epidemiological modelling is desirable.
- Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts is desirable.
