See your match score & applyThe consultant will assist the Conference Services to provide necessary logistical arrangements for the COP17 session, including support for regional preparatory meetings and special events. The role involves ensuring logistic assistance functions, verifying meeting room setups, and supporting the UNCCD logistic team with technical equipment and office arrangements.
Responsibilities
- Ensure help desk logistic assistance functions.
- Daily verification of meeting room set up and liaison with UNOG Team.
- Assistance on general logistic issues and problems raised by the secretariat and other UN staff and/or the participants (i.e. offices set-up).
- Support the UNCCD logistic team in ensuring that requested technical equipment, furniture and offices are available for official meetings, regional meetings, side events, parallel meetings and meetings of interest and regional groups and taking action on such matters.
- Assistance in the setup and logistical arrangement for UNCCD staff offices.
Requirements
- Minimum of a Secondary School education is required.
- Proven years of experience in organizing major United Nations conferences.
- Experience in and understanding of the United Nations system, as well as intergovernmental processes, is a strong asset.
- Good knowledge of the logistical aspects of UN conferences and meetings and the organization of work related thereto would be a strong asset.
- Good knowledge of computer uses and Office (Word, Excel, PPT) is an asset.
- Only individuals who can act as independent, individual economical operators are qualified to apply.
- Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered staff members under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations Secretariat and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein.
- Consultant and individual contractor is responsible for determining tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.
- For remote consultancies, the selected candidate will be required to have a laptop or desktop PC (with Windows 11 or newer) or Mac (with the latest MacOS update), as well as a reliable, high-speed internet connection.
- An Office 365 license will be provided by the UNCCD to enable the candidate to access official emails, SharePoint, OneDrive and other office applications, such as Word and Excel.
- Further computer requirements: An antivirus application which receives regular updates; Browsers must be a newer version with regular updates enabled; Regular Windows 11 updates should be enabled with Windows laptop or PC.
- A mobile phone will be required to enable Multifactor Authentication (MFA) through SMS or the Authenticator App.
