The Volunteer Recruitment Representative III is responsible for developing and implementing broad-based recruitment strategies to attract and identify Red Cross volunteers to effectively support Regional goals and mission critical activities. This role involves coaching, guidance, and subject-matter expertise related to recruitment activities of prospective volunteers, supporting goals, and ensuring placement of sufficient numbers of volunteers to meet operational needs.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute broad-based recruitment strategies to identify and attract volunteers
- Conduct general and targeted outreach and recruiting activities through various resource pools, networks, and social media
- Leverage recruitment venues, in-person presentations, social media campaigns, user groups, and professional associations to identify and attract qualified candidates
- Identify, cultivate, and maintain strategic partnerships with volunteer recruitment sources, agencies, organizations, market segments, and community groups
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop a sustainable, diverse candidate pipeline through both in-person and digital strategies
- Evaluate and modify recruitment strategies based on lessons learned
- Provide coaching, guidance, and subject-matter expertise related to recruitment activities of prospective volunteers
- Collaborate with marketing and communications teams to leverage existing or develop new recruitment materials
- Maintain accurate records of all potential and actual volunteer leads and produce status reports
- Build and manage high-performing volunteer teams across the Southern California Region
- Foster a culture of collaboration, empowerment, and shared purpose
- Inspire and mentor team leads to take ownership of local engagement efforts
- Provide coaching and guidance to volunteer recruitment teams
- Oversee volunteer onboarding processes by leading and mentoring volunteer leaders
- Facilitate robust training programs and provide guidance to volunteer trainers
- Liaise with internal and external partners to ensure volunteer support is timely and mission-aligned
- Conduct and manage comprehensive volunteer needs assessments
- Work with volunteer screening and intake team members
- Serve as a point-of-contact for the Volunteer Intake Processing Center
- Travel throughout the Orange County/Region to support volunteer events, recruitment efforts, training sessions, and engagement activities
- Maintain regular, meaningful volunteer interaction through formal structures and personal connections
- Build lasting relationships with schools, colleges, and campus groups to inspire the next generation of humanitarians
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required
- Minimum of 5 years of related experience
- Ability to work on a team
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and presentation skills
- Good organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple and continuously evolving priorities effectively
- Intermediate proficiency with MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Knowledge of group dynamics, customer maintenance techniques, negotiation skills, and the ability to effectively implement programs is preferred
- Experience in volunteer management or volunteer engagement highly preferred
- Recruiting experience or sales experience is a plus
- Leadership experience is a plus
- Familiarity with Orange County’s civic landscape and volunteer trends is strongly preferred
- Ability to prioritize high competing tasks at any given time within matrix environment highly preferred
