The Audio-Visual Technician maintains complex audio-visual solutions and equipment to support ICC Court Hearings, events, and conferences. The role involves providing technical support, coordinating with contractors, and ensuring optimal performance and stability of AV systems including broadcast quality cameras and video conferencing equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain highly complex audio-visual solutions and equipment to support ICC Court Hearings, High Profile Events and conferences, VIP and state visits, specialized systems for staff, press and detainees, including but not limited to: Bosch and Brahler discussion/interpretation/distribution systems, broadcast quality cameras and robotics, Crestron AV control systems, Tandberg/Cisco video conference systems, broadcast equipment, TV Satellite and Distribution Systems, and digital signal processors and switching.
  • Act as 2nd and 3rd level support and point of escalation for all supported systems and perform non-standard, complex configurations in specialist systems.
  • Provide input to management for design and for procurement of equipment, supplies and services.
  • Control the logistics and security of equipment going for repair and/or preventive maintenance.
  • Coordinate the work of 3rd parties and contractors for the delivery of AV infrastructure.
  • Interact with other experts for deployment of solutions involving multiple domains of expertise (i.e streaming servers, video conference over satellite, etc).
  • Advise management and business areas on how to achieve specific functionality over existing or potential AV solutions.
  • Perform equipment installation, complex programming and relocation to support the business needs of the Court; monitors and tunes equipment for optimal performance; acts as the primary interface with equipment vendors for resolving problems;
  • Ensure maximum stability of critical AV Systems (including but not limited to the Court Rooms) by performing preventive maintenance and regular checks of AV systems.
  • Technicians are expected to work a flexible shift pattern which will involve some evening and weekend work.
  • Assist end users with technical support queries and coordinates resolution of hardware-related requests.

Requirements

  • Diploma of Secondary education.
  • A minimum of 6 years of progressively responsible experience in ICT field and audio-visual and video teleconferencing in particular.
  • A university degree, being at advanced or first-level, in combination with four (4) years of relevant experience, may be considered as a substitute for two years’ of working experience only to determine eligibility.
  • Work experience in a courtroom setting would be an advantage.
  • Experience in deploying and maintaining broadcast quality cameras and robotics, satellite equipment and video teleconferencing equipment is required.
  • Knowledge and experience with DCN systems at engineering level is desirable.
  • Knowledge and experience in Audio-Video Switching and distribution and Crestron programming is desirable.
  • Good communication skills and computer literacy is essential.
  • Attention to details, flexible attitude toward work responsibilities and a friendly, patient, and courteous manner.
  • Must be able to stay calm under pressure, with a demonstrated track record of building strong partnerships with clients and working well within a team.
  • Ability to handle uncertain situations with tact and professionalism.
  • Customer oriented.
  • Proficiency in one of the working languages of the Court, English or French is required.
  • Working knowledge of the other is desirable.
  • Knowledge of another official language of the Court (Arabic, Chinese, Russian and Spanish) would be considered an asset.
