See your match score & applyThe consultant will contribute to the implementation of project activities by providing specialized subject-matter expertise on computer programming and developing applications for database content management. The role involves maintaining and enhancing electronic reporting systems and dashboards for the Stockholm and Basel Conventions, updating import/export control tools, and preparing technical documentation to ensure continuity of future reporting cycles.
Responsibilities
- Maintain the electronic reporting system (ERS) of the Stockholm Convention during the 6th reporting cycle with a deadline of 31 August 2026 and add further solutions for bugs and problems observed in recent years.
- Visualize the full 6th cycle answers on the Stockholm Convention Dashboard and develop new queries for visualization of aggregated data extracted from the ERS.
- Maintain the electronic reporting system (ERS) of the Basel Convention to ensure functionalities used by Parties to submit data and import it into the ERS database remain bug-free.
- Improve the Basel Convention Dashboard to support the development of new queries for visualization of aggregated data extracted from the ERS.
- Update the BC Import and Export Control Tool to reflect the latest amendment to the BC national reporting format and improve visualization of information extracted from the BC ERS within the Tool.
- Prepare technical documentation of the work related to outputs A, B and C.
- Prepare a clear, step-by-step technical guide for duplicating and configuring the questionnaire for a new reporting cycle to ensure continuity of future reporting cycles.
Requirements
- An advanced university degree in the area of computer science, engineering, mathematics or equivalent is required.
- A first level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
- At least five years of experience in the area related to system analysis and design as well as computer programming, including advanced programming skills in MS VB and C# for .NET platform is required.
- Experience in the development and configuration of web applications using Microsoft Office, JQuery, Kendo UI, websites content management systems such as DotNetNuke, MS SQL and relational database and MS Dynamic CRM design is required.
- Knowledge of Data Illusion feedback server technology and the Electronic reporting Systems of the Basel and Stockholm Conventions is desirable.
- Experience in developing queries/reports using the technology Telerik Suite is desirable.
- Working experience in the United Nations or similar international organizations is desirable.
- Fluency in English is required.
- Fluency in another UN official language is desirable.
