This internship is located at the United Nations Regional Information Centre (UNRIC) in Brussels, within the Information Centres Service, Department of Global Communications. The intern will assist in writing, translating, social media updates, media monitoring, liaising with civil society and NGOs, and organizing events to promote the United Nations' work in the region.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in writing and translating articles for the UNRIC web site.
  • Assist in updating social media accounts including drafting and editing content.
  • Assist the Desk Officer with media monitoring and liaising with relevant media.
  • Assist in the daily liaison with civil society, academia, NGOs in the relevant countries.
  • Assist in preparing the organization of events on the work of the UN in relevant countries.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent).
  • Be computer literate in standard software applications.
  • Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the UN Charter.
  • Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, including willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
  • Fluency in oral and written English is required.
  • Fluency in one or more of the following languages is required: English, Danish, Dutch, French, Greek, Italian, Norwegian (Bokmål and Nynorsk) or Portuguese.
