This internship supports the Aviation Security and Cybersecurity Policy Section in developing aviation security standards, managing events, supporting UN counter-terrorism initiatives, and assisting with documentation and communications related to aviation security and cybersecurity.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing a database of ICAO Annex 17 – Aviation Security Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs).
  • Support event management and coordination of ICAO Security Week 2026.
  • Support ICAO participation in UNOCT Counter-Terrorism Week 2026.
  • Support implementation of UNODC-ICAO Safe Skies.
  • Support the Secretary of the Task Force on Artificial Intelligence (TF-AI) of the AVSECP and AI use in aviation security.
  • Assist in developing documentation and presentations related to aviation security and cybersecurity.
  • Provide content for ICAO websites, secure portals, and social media posts.
  • Perform other related duties.

Requirements

  • Candidates must be enrolled in at least an undergraduate degree programme (first-level university degree or higher) in a field related to aviation, international relations, security, political science, law or related fields.
  • Applicants from States without undergraduate/graduate division should have completed at least two years of full-time university studies towards a degree.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint, is essential.
  • Practical experience in inter-departmental communication and events organization.
  • Experience in using Power BI and AI platforms is desirable.
  • Practical experience in using collaborative documentation processing tools or work management platforms is desirable.
  • Fluent reading, writing and speaking abilities in English are essential.
  • Working knowledge of a second UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) is desirable.
