See your match score & applyThe Associate Banker will work in the EBRD Istanbul office, supporting the Infrastructure Sector team in Turkey. The role involves contributing to all phases of the project cycle including origination, structuring, negotiations, execution, implementation, and monitoring, with responsibilities for due diligence, legal analysis, documentation, and client management.
Responsibilities
- Work as a project team member on transactions contributing to all aspects of project structuring and execution including working with clients, consultants and other parties.
- Drive scope and quality of project due diligence including financial, market, integrity and EBRD policy compliance.
- Prepare internal project documentation including approval memoranda, financial models, draft term sheets, presentations as required.
- Design and process technical co-operation assistance ensuring alignment with investment project approval schedules or policy dialogue initiatives.
- Complete all tasks within responsibility areas to high standards and in line with Bank policies and objectives.
- Implement and monitor assigned projects ensuring compliance with agreements and Bank procedures related to disbursement and financial performance monitoring.
- Assess evolving risk factors and covenant compliance; may become operation leader for projects in implementation and monitoring phases.
- Prepare timely and comprehensive monitoring reports with recommendations for corrective actions.
- Ensure effective implementation and monitoring of technical cooperation assignments meeting donor reporting requirements and operational objectives.
- Perform additional tasks assigned by operation leader and provide guidance to junior project team members.
- Assist with marketing and business development efforts as required.
- Develop transaction expertise and expand responsibilities towards operation leader role under supervision of senior bankers or Team Director.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred or equivalent experience in relevant areas.
- Professional qualification such as ACA, CFA, ACCA, or CIMA is desirable.
- Strong quantitative and numerical skills with ability to interpret financial information and design/use financial models.
- Credit analysis skills including interpretation of accounts and understanding of local and international accounting principles and credit analysis practices.
- Computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office and spreadsheet packages including financial analysis and modelling modules.
- Excellent understanding of relevant systems and processes.
- Ability to work effectively as a team member, meet deadlines, and work under time pressure.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
- Good command of Turkish language (oral and written) is strongly preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant financial industry experience from investment or commercial bank, private equity firm, asset management firm, or auditing/financial consulting firm operating to international standards, including project finance and corporate finance.
- Practical experience participating in transactions through the full project life cycle.
- Exposure to Turkish infrastructure market including social infrastructure and PPPs is preferred.
