The National Climate Adaptation Expert(s) will support the preparation of the Full Proposal document package for the Climate Resilience and Adaptation Facility for Technologies (CRAFT Zambia) project. They will conduct national-level research, review climate adaptation policies, support stakeholder consultations, and contribute technical inputs to ensure the proposal aligns with Zambia's climate adaptation needs and priorities.
Responsibilities
- Conduct national-level research and analysis to inform the climate rationale, adaptation justification, innovation rationale, project design and alignment with national priorities.
- Support stakeholder consultations, coordination with Ministry of Green Economy and Environment (MGEE) focal points and integration of stakeholder, gender and innovation perspectives into the Full Proposal.
- Contribute technical inputs to the design of adaptation activities, innovation approach, knowledge management, sustainability, results framework, financing justification and key annexes.
- Contribute to drafting the proposal materials and provide technical comments, revisions and inputs to support completion of the Full Proposal document package.
- Ensure effective coordination with MGEE and national stakeholders to align proposal development with government priorities and ensure stakeholder engagement throughout the process.
Requirements
- Master's degree in environmental science, climate change, sustainable development, or related field.
- At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in climate adaptation, environmental policy, or related areas.
- Experience in conducting national-level research and analysis related to climate change adaptation and resilience.
- Proven ability to review and analyze climate adaptation policies, strategies, and sectoral priorities.
- Experience in stakeholder consultation and coordination with government entities and other stakeholders.
- Strong technical writing skills to contribute to drafting project proposals and related documentation.
- Familiarity with the Adaptation Fund policies and standards is desirable.
- Ability to work independently and remotely from Zambia.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills.
- Knowledge of gender considerations and social inclusion in climate adaptation projects.
