The Staff Officer (JLSN Manager) is responsible for planning, developing and managing projects of the Regional Plan-Centre Joint Logistic Support Network to support NATO operations. The role involves coordination with multiple stakeholders, development of logistics concepts, and support to NATO exercises and missions.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop and manage the Regional Plan-Centre Joint Logistics Support Network projects.
  • Identify processes and requirements for JLSN development to meet new Logistics Concepts supporting NATO Exercises and Missions.
  • Support development of Regional Plans and DDA family of plans activities.
  • Identify and support Enablement activities for JLSN in support of deployment and sustainment of large scale forces in JFCBS/JTF JOA and coordinate with other JFC/JTF for cross JOA operations.
  • Develop, maintain and adjust JLSN requirements to new Concepts as NATO Collective Logistics and support the New Force Model including Allied Reaction Force.
  • Prepare and conduct briefings, background papers, and talking points including briefings to JFCBS Command Group.
  • Conduct coordination meetings with key external planning agents including subordinate commands, NATO and Partner Nations, and EU Military Staff to establish procedures enabling JLSN in JFCBS/JTF Area of Responsibility and coordinate with other JFC/JTF JLSNs.
  • Review and recommend changes to plans, policies and concepts within the Branch’s auspices.
  • Support and develop operational military vision documents, strategic initiatives, think-pieces, non-papers, JLSN operations plans, operational policies, concepts and directives for Alliance missions.
  • Contribute to staff development induction and training initiatives for the Branch and support OPSA from logistics perspective at operational level for missions, operations and activities.
  • Coordinate planning, conduct and reporting from planning conferences.
  • Contribute to development of exercise related operational and strategic planning documents.
  • Participate in exercises at HQ level.
  • Respond to actions and requests of authorities within ACO to improve JFCBS/JTF readiness for NATO new spectrum of operations and missions and apply concepts in development as NATO Collective Logistics and Sustainment.
  • Make decisions within assigned sub-functional area.
  • May undertake deployments in support of military operations and exercises and/or TDY assignments within and outside NATO boundaries, possibly exceeding 30 days duration up to 183 days in any 547-day period and on short notice.

Requirements

  • English – good – NATO Standard Language Proficiency 3333 (Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing) in accordance with NATO standard agreement (STANAG) 6001.
  • University Degree or equivalent in related field / discipline (equivalent is Higher Secondary Education AND completed advanced vocational training in relevant field leading to a professional certification or accreditation).
  • Minimum 3 years professional experience in a logistic role within a large international organization.
  • Minimum 2 years professional experience in supply chain and/or transportation management including experience using software related to logistic planning and operations.
  • Experience working directly with senior leadership (desirable).
  • Experience leading diverse cross-functional teams (desirable).
  • Experience in transformation management for business change projects (desirable).
  • Experience planning, developing and managing multi-stakeholder projects (desirable).
  • Professional experience in Military logistics within a large HQ, Joint Command, NATO HQ or MOD (desirable).
  • Knowledge of NATO’s policies, doctrine and standards relevant to logistics and operational planning (desirable).
  • Completion of relevant courses/training (desirable).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • Required to pass a medical examination before employment contract offer.
