The Education and Protection Officer supports the implementation of educational and child protection activities in schools, catch-up clubs, and communities. The role aims to improve access to education, learning quality, child safety, and prevention of protection risks including gender-based violence, exploitation, and abuse, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and protective learning environment for all children, especially girls, children with disabilities, and out-of-school children.

Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation of educational and child protection activities in schools, catch-up clubs, and communities.
  • Contribute to improving access to education, learning quality, and child safety.
  • Prevent protection risks including gender-based violence, exploitation, and abuse.
  • Ensure a safe, inclusive, and protective learning environment for all children, especially girls, children with disabilities, and out-of-school children.
  • Collaborate with local partners and school authorities to enhance program effectiveness.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Child Protection, Psychology, Social Sciences, or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in education, child protection, or community project management.
  • Experience in facilitating children's groups, adult training, or working in school settings.
  • Knowledge of TEACH methodology or similar pedagogical approaches is an asset.
  • Experience with international or national NGOs is desirable.
  • Good understanding of child protection standards, gender-based violence, and gender-sensitive approaches.
  • Knowledge of accelerated learning, catch-up schooling, and active pedagogies.
  • Ability to identify protection risks and implement mitigation measures.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and community mobilization skills.
  • Empathy, listening skills, and ability to work with vulnerable children and communities.
  • Rigor, organization, and ability to work under pressure.
  • Strict respect for confidentiality and safeguarding principles.
  • Ability to collaborate with local partners and school authorities.
