The Staff Officer (Medical Intelligence) provides subject matter expertise in medical intelligence to support NATO JSEC operations. The role involves collection, evaluation, analysis, and interpretation of medical, bio-scientific, and environmental information relevant to operational planning and execution.
Responsibilities
- Lead processes in the special field of Medical Intelligence (MedIntel).
- Responsible for all matters related to collecting medical information and medical intelligence.
- Establish contacts and cooperation with national/multinational medical staffs, other HQs, national medical units, CIMIC organisations, GOs/IOs/NGOs.
- Interface closely with J2, J3 and J5 for medical intelligence support.
- Respond to COM JSEC´s medical priority intelligence requirements.
- Provide medical threat analysis and health risk assessments for the RSN.
- Provide subject matter expertise on analysing medical reports, military and open source medical information.
- Provide SME for building Recognized Medical Picture (RMEDP).
- Contribute to all medical matters related to preparing, conducting, controlling and evaluating current operations within the mission spectrum.
- Participate in development and evaluation of SOIs, SOPs, working instructions.
Requirements
- University Degree in medical discipline, epidemiology, Medical support, sustainment or related discipline and 2 years function related experience, or Higher Secondary education and completed advanced vocational training in that discipline leading to a professional qualification or professional accreditation with 4 years post related experience.
- Proven experience in Medical Intelligence and Information, including activities that produce intelligence on issues affecting health and medical care of deployed forces.
- Proven experience in Military Medical Plans involving integration of medical support in planning at strategic, operational and tactical levels.
- English language proficiency at SLP 3333 (Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing).
- Ability to assess complex processes and propose actionable recommendations in a multinational team environment.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills and a creative approach to challenges related to force health protection.
- Willingness to enhance personal skills and work occasionally outside normal office hours and travel as part of the appointment.
- Desirable: Further training certificates and courses related to medical intelligence or acquired through NATO, e.g., NATO Medical Intelligence Course, NATO Orientation Course.
