The consultant will support the AMCEN Secretariat to efficiently carry out its mandate, provide support to African countries in regional multilateral processes, and assist with UNEP Africa Office activities. Key tasks include preparation, coordination, and follow-up of AMCEN activities such as ministerial sessions and Bureau meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare the Inception report and work plan.
  • Draft technical documents (briefs, reports, policy notes).
  • Prepare meeting documentation (agendas, summaries, outcomes).
  • Prepare the monthly progress reports.
  • Prepare the Final report summarizing outputs and recommendations.

Requirements

  • Advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in environmental management/governance/policy related fields, sustainable development related fields is required.
  • A first level university degree in combination with an additional two (2) years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
  • Successful completion of both degree and non-degree programs in data analytics, or data science programs is desirable.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in environmental policy development and associated natural resource and ecosystem management is required.
  • Fluency in oral and written English is required.
  • Knowledge of French is an asset.
