Responsibilities
- Undertake protection mainstreaming activities related to Movement Operations in the United States, ensuring standards and guidelines are implemented and upheld.
- Manage initiatives promoting meaningful and sustained access for all relevant populations.
- Review and advise on accessibility of processes and premises.
- Enhance accountability mechanisms including complaints and feedback mechanisms (CFMs); provide relevant training.
- Advance and support implementation of RMM and USRAP protection mainstreaming principles and minimum standards and associated tools in the United States.
- Monitor, collect and report feedback on implementation; integrate new tools as needed.
- Disseminate and ensure understanding of principles and standards among personnel; identify knowledge gaps and facilitate capacity-building.
- Engage with Movement Operations colleagues on support to vulnerable individuals and provide updates to management.
- Ensure visual and communication materials are fit for purpose and appropriate for vulnerable individuals.
- Conduct risk analysis exercises assessing accessibility, safety and suitability of IOM processes, transportation, premises and third-party premises.
- Work closely with coordinators and teams to resolve accessibility issues and ensure SOPs and training consider accessibility.
- Oversee and strengthen performance of community feedback mechanisms (CFMs) ensuring multiple channels, structured recording, meaningful replies, and capacity building.
- Facilitate day-to-day management of prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse (PSEA) activities in airport offices and related processes.
- Provide regular, effective PSEA training to airport office staff and serve as resource for advice and reporting.
- Design, deliver and evaluate protection mainstreaming knowledge-building initiatives for airport office personnel.
- Support and provide training on protection mainstreaming topics in the United States.
- Ensure operational SOPs, trainings, tools and materials are accessible to all personnel and beneficiaries.
- Promote coordination, collaboration and documentation of best practices and lessons learned in trainings, tools and CFMs.
- Contribute to design and strengthening of monitoring approaches by analysing operational data and advising on monitoring mechanisms.
- Coordinate closely with other IOM units to align national-level protection mainstreaming activities.
- Participate in mission-level, regional and global meetings related to protection mainstreaming.
- Maintain confidentiality and integrity of paperwork in line with standards and data protection rules.
- Alert supervisors or management of any non-compliance to SOPs or codes of conduct.
- Perform other relevant duties as assigned.
Requirements
- University degree in international relations, political science, or a related field from an accredited academic institution with five years of work experience; or, Completed secondary education with seven years of relevant working experience.
- At least 5-7 years of relevant experience in protection mainstreaming, migrant assistance, refugee resettlement, monitoring and evaluation, diversity, equality and inclusion, social work, etc.
- Experience planning, facilitating, and evaluating training; experience facilitating training in a humanitarian setting preferred.
- Prior experience with protection analysis and/or the production of reports preferred.
- Experience with USRAP programs preferred.
- Experience with processing systems such as MiMOSA and iGATOR preferred.
- Experience working in a multi-cultural setting.
- Thorough knowledge of English language.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to organise.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to assess complex operational situations and propose practical, risk-informed solutions.
- Sound judgment and discretion, particularly when handling sensitive protection, PSEA, and accountability-related matters.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with ability to work collaboratively across units, functions, and institutional levels.
- Self-motivated, objective driven and able to use own initiative and work under pressure with minimum supervision.
- Computer/software literate with good knowledge in Microsoft Office.
- Fluency in English required.
