The Protection/(SCBP) Field Officer will contribute to the implementation and monitoring of ICRC protection activities related to the Safe Cross-Border Passage program, supporting repatriation and family reunification of people affected by conflict. The role involves managing program implementation, assessing cases, accompanying beneficiaries, and liaising with stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day implementation and development of the Safe Cross-Border Passage (SCBP) program in close coordination with the team
- Assess and process potential cases in line with established criteria and ensure timely follow-up for beneficiaries
- Accompany beneficiaries during cross-border movements and provide practical support throughout the process
- Provide support to sub-delegations on SCBP cases and activities, including participating in field trips and meetings as needed
- Ensure compliance with workflows, reporting guidelines, and data entry procedures, including maintaining accurate and timely updates of SCBP files
- Collect, analyze, and share protection-related information and prepare relevant reports
- Document and follow up on protection concerns affecting civilians impacted by the conflict
- Identify and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders, including authorities, National Society branches, NGOs, and service providers
- Support the planning, organization, and reporting of internal and external meetings and provide interpretation when required
- Engage directly with individuals affected by conflict to understand their circumstances and provide support in line with ICRC’s humanitarian principles
- Contribute to the analysis of the security, socioeconomic, cultural, and political environment and share relevant updates with the team
Requirements
- Ukrainian citizenship or holding a permanent resident permit in Ukraine
- University degree or equivalent relevant professional experience
- 3–5 years of professional experience, preferably in the fields of social, political, or economic sciences, or a related area
- Professional fluency in English, Ukrainian, and Russian (written and spoken)
- Proficiency in computer skills and relevant software applications
- Self-motivated with a strong commitment to teamwork and humanitarian principles
- Flexible, enthusiastic, and willing to learn
- Ability to work independently, as well as effectively under supervision
- Confidence in managing projects and staff
- Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks
- Ability to work within a diverse team and establish and maintain good working relations in a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural, and multi-disciplinary environment
