Fall 2026 Intensive Case Management Intern - UNPAID

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking an Intensive Case Management Intern to assist caseworkers in providing case management services to refugees and asylees with special needs. The internship is unpaid, part-time, and based in Atlanta, GA, focusing on supporting vulnerable clients through community resource mapping, appointment scheduling, and client education.

Responsibilities

• Map community assets and help make referrals to community partners.
• Assist in scheduling medical appointments for clients.
• Educate clients on U.S. healthcare and social service systems.
• Assist clients in applying for social service assistance programs.
• Input client information into IRC’s database.
• Communicate client concerns with ICM staff and coordinate service plan with supervisor.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Must submit intern hours on volunteer portal.
• Must pass a background check.
• Commitment of at least 15 hours per week for a minimum of 3 consecutive months.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States. Please note that we are unable to provide sponsorship for a US work authorization.
• Excellent communication and writing skills.
• Organized with attention to detail.
• Able to work independently and under pressure.
• An interest in international and refugee issues.
• Creativity and initiative to follow through on projects.
• Strong desire to help people and enthusiasm for working in a multi-cultural setting.
• Computer literacy – preferably with PC systems.
• A car/driver’s license is beneficial.
