The Multimedia and Digital Asset Consultant will provide on-site multimedia coverage, optimize and deliver multimedia assets, and manage digital assets including photos, videos, and multimedia content for UN Women. The role supports the Communications and Advocacy Division by ensuring high-quality production and distribution of photo and video communications assets and maintaining the Digital Asset Management System.
Responsibilities
- Provide on-site multimedia coverage (still photography or in-studio video recording) and optimize and deliver multimedia assets.
- Prepare, assess, optimize, upload and distribute digital assets including photos, videos, and multimedia content.
- Manage metadata of digital assets within the UN Women Multimedia Library, including uploading and reviewing photos, videos and design files.
- Provide photo and video coverage and editing of events, bilateral meetings, video messages and other assignments as directed.
- Be present in-office on all workdays to be available for coverage requests and submit deliverables on a same-day basis.
- Organize digital assets implementing best practices for file naming, classification, metadata tagging and searchability.
- Review digital assets for quality and compliance with UN Women standards including proofreading captions and metadata.
- Apply UN Women’s technical, ethical and editorial standards to maximize asset quality and maintain organizational voice.
- Assist digital asset inventory, usage and permissions as requested.
- Assist with other tasks as required by the supervisor.
Requirements
- Master’s degree or equivalent in multimedia, visual design, photography, videography or related field is required.
- A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
- Certification in photography, videography, communications or information science would be an added advantage.
- Minimum 1 year of relevant experience.
- Fluency in oral and written English is required.
- Knowledge of any other UN official language is an asset.
- Proficiency in both photo and video coverage, as demonstrated by portfolio submission and/or technical test.
- Familiarity with digital asset management systems and software.
- Proficiency in image optimization with Photoshop and metadata management with Photo Mechanic software including ability to review, assess and optimize image files according to the specified technical and editorial requirements.
- Outstanding organizational and time-management skills.
- High attention to detail.
- Familiarity with gender issues is an important asset.
