Responsible for the safe driving of land vehicles and operation of boats for the transportation of personnel, goods, or supplies, ensuring compliance with traffic and safety regulations. Supports logistical operations including vehicle and boat maintenance, security briefings, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Participate actively in field trips with delegate or resident colleague in charge of the area
  • Conduct field trips independently or with resident CICR staff
  • Develop and maintain a network of contacts with relevant interlocutors in the field
  • Inform the population about CICR activities and mandate during field trips
  • Contribute proactively with information and analysis for reports prepared by field teams
  • Evaluate general security situation before each trip and coordinate with leadership and logistics for safety requirements
  • Ensure safe transport of people and goods according to CICR and national traffic laws
  • Maintain vehicles and boats in optimal condition including fuel, cleanliness, communication equipment, tools, and documentation
  • Report immediately any damage, accidents, or traffic violations to fleet manager
  • Ensure preventive and corrective maintenance of vehicles and boats within established deadlines
  • Ensure timely registration and update of vehicle and boat information in FleetWave platform
  • Advise delegate and resident staff on sociopolitical situation and conflict dynamics in the area
  • Evaluate humanitarian situation and collect relevant information on conflict for reporting
  • Participate in planning, briefing, and debriefing meetings related to field trips
  • Maintain security awareness and apply safety rules during field activities
  • Support communication procedures with Radio Room and train colleagues on communication equipment
  • Maintain discretion and confidentiality in all assigned activities
  • Support logistics by mapping suppliers, assisting with payments, purchases, and quotations
  • Organize logistical materials for field trips considering locations, interlocutors, routes, distances, and times
  • Support loading and unloading of necessary items for field trips
  • Assist in warehouse operations including receipt, dispatch, verification, and inventory management
  • Report discrepancies or damages in inventory to warehouse or logistics manager
  • Support cyclical counts and physical inventories to ensure accuracy
  • Perform pre-operational, operational, and post-operational inspections of vehicles and boats
  • Ensure proper use, conservation, and preparation of assigned vehicles and boats
  • Maintain operational records and documentation including log-books and transport reports
  • Monitor fleet status via FleetWave and report maintenance or operational issues
  • Verify proper functioning of communication equipment installed in vehicles and boats
  • Report immediately any accidents, incidents, damages, or equipment losses affecting vehicle or boat operations
  • Support updating and reconciliation of physical and electronic fleet management information
  • Report transportation services, fuel consumption, navigation hours, and maintenance services for vehicles, boats, generators, and trailers
  • Ensure compliance with checklists and contracts for river and maritime outings
  • Verify engine status, fuel, and safety equipment before each trip
  • Supervise weather and navigability conditions during trips
  • Ensure proper use of life jackets and emergency equipment on board
  • Manage emergency kit and ensure it is carried on all field trips

Requirements

  • Valid driving license (categories B, C or equivalents)
  • Valid pilot license for river or maritime navigation
  • Basic knowledge of automotive mechanics
  • Knowledge of local routes and traffic regulations
  • Knowledge of river routes, currents, and water levels
  • Basic first aid training
