The MEAL Assistant is responsible for conducting Monitoring & Evaluation activities according to the work plan, ensuring compliance with DRC MEAL procedures and guidelines. The role supports program quality assurance, data management, and provides MEAL technical support to field operations and partners.
Responsibilities
- Designing, planning & implementation of strategies for data collection & storage, analysis & sharing.
- Responsible for all projects database and updating regularly according to project requirements.
- Make recommendations about data collection, analysis and management methods to improve data quality and efficiency.
- Support MEAL Officer in capacity building, assessments, and reporting.
- Manage the Gender Based Violence Information Management System (GBVIMS) including data entry, cleanup, storage, system maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Ensure accurate data entry and maintenance of beneficiary database records.
- Support timely sharing of GBVIMS line data to Protection TL and UNHCR focal point.
- Ensure program data is AGD disaggregated and safely stored.
- Support assessments, community visits, focus groups and qualitative data collection.
- Conduct field data collection using mobile and paper forms, ensuring equipment readiness.
- Assist in data analysis and provide inputs for reports.
- Participate in baseline, mid-term and end of term evaluations.
- Support short-term M&E evaluators, consultants and experts.
- Support research and study activities on M&E issues.
- Conduct community visits and focus group discussions for feedback.
- Manage Feedback Complaints and Response Mechanism (FCRM) and Kakuma Toll-free line for complaints tracking and follow-up.
- Assist in updating Indicator Performance Tracking Tool (IPTT) monthly.
- Assist in compiling and submitting weekly and monthly program reports.
- Assist in preparation of sector operation/work plans and reviews.
- Maintain clear and transparent filing system.
- Support documentation and visibility of project activities with communication materials.
- Assist in photo taking, review, organization, and archiving of visibility content.
- Support development and dissemination of communication and visibility materials.
- Undertake other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics/Information management Sciences and a background in Monitoring and Evaluation.
- Minimum of 2 years of work experience within the field of Monitoring and Evaluation.
- Experience in working with data analysis software (SPSS, STATA and Excel).
- Working knowledge of data Visualization tool preferably PowerBI.
- Good skills in designing data collection tools using digital platform e.g. KoboCollect.
- Experience in conducting surveys (Baseline, Midline, Endline, Outcome Harvesting, Beneficiary Feedback Surveys, Needs Assessments etc.).
- Basic understanding of Core Humanitarian Standards (CHS).
- Experience with capacity building of staff in M&E processes.
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office Word, Excel Power Point.
- Excellent analytical and report writing skills (English).
- Time management and organizational skills.
- Knowledge and experience in communication, visibility, photography, or design of information materials will be an added advantage.
- Previous work experience in hardship areas or emergency setting.
- Fluency in written and spoken English is essential.
