The Intern supports the 3D Print as a Service (3DPaaS) project, assisting in 3D modeling, printing preparation, scanning, prototyping, website maintenance, project planning, workflow improvement, and sustainability initiatives related to 3D printing technologies.
Responsibilities
- Assist the team in designing 3D models using CAD/CAM software (e.g.: Autodesk Fusion 360, Shapr3D, Autodesk Meshmixer, Meshlab, etc.).
- Assist in preparing models for printing using slicing software (e.g.: Ultimaker Cura, Chitubox), optimizing files for different technologies (FDM and SLA).
- Support the 3D scanning process using scanning software (scanner-dependent).
- Contribute to prototyping projects for education, research, or community use.
- Maintain the 3D Printing-as-a-Service Website by updating content, performing basic troubleshooting, and supporting platform development.
- Assist in planning 3D Technology Projects by developing project plans, timelines, and resource needs for initiatives such as product development, prototyping, and research support.
- Help evaluate and improve 3D printing workflows by documenting best practices and recommending Industry 4.0 technologies (e.g., automation, digital monitoring) for real-world applications.
- Support Plastic Waste Recycling Initiatives by helping process plastic waste into usable 3D Printer filament, tracking materials, and assisting with sustainability outreach.
- Actively engage in preparing subject-related workshops and events to promote 3D printing technologies.
