The Financial Capabilities Intern supports the IRC in New Jersey's Financial Capabilities program by providing financial coaching and counseling services to program participants and coordinating monthly financial education workshops. This unpaid internship aims to empower participants through financial literacy and coaching.
Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one financial coaching for clients.
- Conduct budgets and financial surveys with clients.
- Track client notes and progress in a spreadsheet and on ETO software.
- Communicate effectively in person and by phone.
- Facilitate monthly literacy workshops for clients.
- Accompany clients to bank appointments.
- Adhere to IRC policies, particularly those related to confidentiality and client privacy.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Volunteers must be based in the U.S.
- Interns must be based in US and must be enrolled in post-secondary institution or have graduated from a post-secondary institution within last 2 years.
- Available for a minimum of 15 hours per week.
- The ideal candidates will have prior experience in the field of personal financial management, preferably in a counseling or coaching role.
- Basic proficiency in digital literacy.
- High school degree required.
- Bilingual ability required: Spanish or Haitian Creole highly preferred, ability to speak Dari/Pashto, Arabic, or French also preferred.
