See your match score & applyThe Communications Intern supports the Capacity Development team in implementing communication strategies to enhance visibility and effectiveness of UN Volunteer learning activities. The role involves content development, outreach, social media management, and analytics to promote UNV learning programs.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the capacity development team to execute communication strategies enhancing visibility of UN Volunteer learning activities.
- Create and maintain engaging communication materials including graphics and presentations.
- Update and refresh content on UNV learning opportunities ensuring accuracy and relevance.
- Organize outreach and sourcing initiatives to inform and engage stakeholders about UNV learning opportunities.
- Implement structured dissemination of information to motivate engagement in capacity development offerings.
- Maintain information on UNV eCampus up-to-date.
- Implement tracking mechanisms to monitor impact and reach of communication efforts using key performance indicators.
- Prepare regular reports on effectiveness of communication strategies and recommend improvements.
- Work closely with Capacity Development Team, subject matter experts, and other sections to ensure alignment in communication approaches.
- Engage with stakeholders, partners, and UNV volunteer community to gather feedback fostering collaborative communication.
- Manage communication through official WhatsApp channels and social media platforms to enhance engagement.
- Develop, schedule, and monitor social media posts and WhatsApp broadcasts aligned with communication strategy.
- Analyze engagement metrics from social media and WhatsApp to identify trends and support continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, International Relations, International Development, or another related field.
- Applicants must be enrolled in a postgraduate degree programme, be in the final academic year of a first university degree programme, have recently graduated within one year, or be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program.
- Proficiency in English, with ability to communicate effectively in written and spoken forms.
- Knowledge of one or more of the other five official UN languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish) is very desirable.
- Experience in creating and disseminating communication materials, managing social media accounts, or supporting communication campaigns.
- Experience with graphic design and multimedia content creation using design software such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Illustrator, or InDesign.
- Experience organizing events, workshops, or webinars including logistics planning, participant communication, capturing success stories, or technical support during virtual events.
- Experience writing for various platforms such as blogs, newsletters, or articles, tailoring content for different audiences and purposes.
- Experience engaging with audiences, creating content calendars, and monitoring social media analytics.
