The internship is in the Digital Strategy Section of the Communication Division of UNEP. The intern will support digital communications activities including social media, web, internal communications and the library/knowledge repository units under the supervision of the Chief of Digital Strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Research, compile, draft and edit basic information for use in the preparation and production of online content, often under tight deadlines
  • Review existing content to identify required edits and clean up in line with agreed strategies
  • Advise and take part in reporting activities, analytics and creation of dashboards (such as PowerBI)
  • Manage meeting agendas and draft meeting notes
  • Create presentations and training curricula
  • Carry out research tasks and provide inputs into digital strategy planning and activities
  • Assist with special projects as assigned
  • Take part in knowledge repository/taxonomy clean-up, indexing, and other related work

Requirements

  • Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher)
  • Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent)
  • Preferred areas of studies: Communication, International affairs, or environment-related field preferred
  • No working experience is required
  • Applicants should have good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams
  • Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D. Programme
  • Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship
  • Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage
  • Experience in Dspace is a plus (but not required)
  • Experience in front and back-end Drupal development work in an AWS environment is a plus
