The GBV Team Leader ensures high-quality delivery of integrated Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and Psychosocial Support (PSS) services through technical supervision, coordination, and leadership. The role supports GBV prevention and response programming and the implementation of impactful PSS interventions for survivors and vulnerable populations in Sudan.
Responsibilities
- Enforce a strong supervision role in GBV case management and the delivery of PSS activities, including coaching, mentoring, and shadowing.
- Conduct regular case file audits and survivor-centered capacity assessments.
- Carry out periodic MHPSS capacity assessments.
- Support the development of capacity-building plans for GBV and PSS staff.
- Oversee data collection and ensure proper information management in line with GBV case management sensitive data protection protocols.
- Manage and supervise WGSS facilitators and community volunteers.
- Oversee provision of Dignity kits.
- Conduct GBV risk assessments and safety audits.
- Mainstream GBV across Non-protection sectors within DRC.
- Manage cash/assistance to GBV survivors.
- Ensure foundations of GBV Case management services are in place and regularly updated.
- Line-manage Protection Officers (GBV & PSS) delivering GBV services.
- Ensure high-quality case management services for GBV survivors and individuals with specific needs.
- Ensure high-quality delivery of structured and unstructured PSS programming.
- Lead field assessments, safety audits, coordination with partners, referrals, and capacity-building initiatives.
- Ensure all activities comply with donor and DRC regulations.
- Support project planning including work plans, procurement plans, HR plans, communication plans, and budget management.
- Maintain oversight of DRC WGSS field spaces.
- Provide technical support, supervision, and guidance to the GBV team.
- Identify technical gaps and implement solutions.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, training, and supervision of GBV staff.
- Ensure staff compliance with international protection standards and best practices.
- Strengthen capacity of GBV Officers across program activities.
- Monitor staff performance and conduct performance evaluations.
- Contribute to GBV proposals with field-based inputs.
- Ensure timely and effective implementation of activities including budget tracking, procurement, and reporting.
- Act as alternate focal point for GBV programming when needed.
- Attend GBV Sub-Cluster and MHPSS Working Group meetings.
- Maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, partners, and service providers.
- Conduct evidence-based advocacy for vulnerable populations.
- Ensure up-to-date service mapping and staff awareness of available services.
- Monitor and ensure achievement of targets in line with DRC and donor requirements.
- Ensure compliance with the DRC Code of Conduct.
- Participate in relevant trainings and coaching.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Protection Project Manager.
Requirements
- University degree in Gender studies, Psychology, social sciences, international law, humanitarian affairs or similar field.
- Proven experience (at least 3 years) in GBV case management.
- Demonstrated experience in team supervision and leadership.
- Strong understanding and application of the survivor-centered approach.
- Experience handling high-risk cases.
- Familiarity with displacement contexts (IDPs, returnees, refugees) is an advantage.
- Strong commitment to confidentiality and ethical standards.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure.
- Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, internet).
