The National MICS Consultant will support and provide guidance to the UNICEF Country Office and the Ministry of Health for the preparation, implementation, and dissemination of the MICS7 survey in Algeria. The role involves coordinating quantitative household surveys, data analysis, training facilitation, and report writing, with remote work and travel within the country.

Responsibilities

  • Support and provide guidance to the Country Office and the Ministry of Health for the preparation, implementation and dissemination of the MICS7 survey in Algeria.
  • Coordinate and manage quantitative household surveys.
  • Organize and facilitate training sessions related to the survey.
  • Conduct data analysis and write survey reports.
  • Lead, manage and supervise a team involved in the survey.
  • Travel extensively within the country and attend regional workshops abroad.

Requirements

  • University degree (preferably at Master’s level) required in demography, statistics, social sciences, epidemiology and/or any other related technical field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in coordinating and/or managing quantitative household surveys (previous experience with MICS or Demographic and Health Surveys (DHS) would be considered an asset).
  • Strong computer skills and solid expertise in statistical analysis (familiarity with data processing and analysis software, particularly SPSS).
  • Required experience in organizing and facilitating training sessions.
  • Required experience in data analysis and survey report writing.
  • Desirable experience in data collection using the CAPI system.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Previous knowledge of and work experience in the country and/or the region is strongly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a multicultural environment and establish harmonious and effective relationships both within and outside the organization, particularly with national institutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, manage and supervise a team.
  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively within the country and attend regional workshops abroad.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in Arabic and French are required; strong ability to communicate and understand English, both written and spoken, is highly desirable.
