The Vehicle Fleet Manager assists the Vehicle Fleet Manager 2 to oversee the management of the fleet of ICRC vehicles and generators in Sudan delegation to meet operational needs, ensuring compliance with headquarters standards. The role involves resource planning, scheduling, training, and administrative management of vehicles and drivers.

Responsibilities

  • Determine needs in terms of the fleet and maximize its efficiency and effectiveness through planned resource allocation in accordance with guidelines from headquarters
  • Provide and organize employee training and recruitment in accordance with security regulations and technical guidelines
  • Manage, monitor and be accountable for vehicle fuel supplies, including contingency planning
  • Establish the spare parts inventory and carry out controls in accordance with ICRC guidelines
  • Provide technical input in the decision-making process regarding private transport services under contract, especially freight transport
  • Ensure that administrative paperwork related to vehicles and drivers is handled professionally and in line with headquarters guidelines
  • Collaborate with the site logistician to ensure all sites are secure in terms of fire danger, collateral damage from weapons and illegal access
  • Ensure all vehicles follow ICRC and national rules concerning third-party and casco insurance
  • Monitor, organize and maximize the efficiency of the vehicle pool to support the delegation’s operations
  • Act as administrator of the FleetWave application, generate reports, analyze them and take necessary corrective action

Requirements

  • Technical degree in automotive technology
  • Accredited management training
  • Excellent command (written and spoken) of English
  • Very good skills with computers and workshop finances
  • 3–5 years’ experience working in fleet management and maintenance
  • Very good knowledge of the political situation and social and cultural norms of the area of assignment
  • Two years’ management experience
  • Experience with humanitarian organizations is an asset
  • Experience and exposure to other cultural contexts and foreign countries is an asset
