The Supply Chain Officer will be responsible for managing supply chain activities in the Country Office, ensuring quality goods and services are delivered timely and at optimal prices. The role involves strategic planning, coordination of procurement, warehouse management, transport, and training of staff, in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the strategic planning for supply chain-related activities of the Country Office in collaboration with stakeholders and HQ units.
  • Conduct logistics capacity assessment and market research to inform decision-makers about local market trends and commodity availability.
  • Coordinate and monitor all supply chain management tasks including planning, budgeting, scheduling, and provision of goods and services.
  • Manage supply chain activities including procurement, warehouse management, transport, fleet, assets, facilities management, and logistics information management.
  • Identify supply chain bottlenecks and propose process optimizations to ensure timely and efficient delivery of goods and services.
  • Review procurement requests, identify service providers, evaluate vendor performance, and maintain a pool of qualified vendors.
  • Solicit bids, oversee bidding processes, analyze offers, conduct appraisals, select suppliers, and prepare purchase orders in line with delegation of authority.
  • Provide technical support in tendering processes ensuring fairness, transparency, and compliance with procurement rules.
  • Ensure timely submission of asset, procurement, and other reports to relevant offices and departments.
  • Establish and manage internal control mechanisms to safeguard assets and prevent fraud.
  • Support maintenance and repair of office facilities and establish maintenance agreements when cost-effective.
  • Provide training and guidance to SCM staff and support their professional development.
  • Participate in UN inter-agency meetings related to supply chain management and collaborate on resource sharing and global initiatives.
  • Perform other relevant duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Procurement, or a related field from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant professional experience; or, University degree in the above fields with four years of relevant professional experience.
  • Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.
  • Experience in managing diverse procurement and logistics operations.
  • Demonstrated experience in training and supervising teams of co-workers, managing vendors and suppliers.
  • Fluency in English (oral and written) is required.
  • Working knowledge of Arabic is an advantage.
