The Construction Engineer provides technical support to construction activities including planning, procurement support, and monitoring of construction works on site. The role involves collaboration with UNICEF Programme and Operations colleagues and coordination with government counterparts to ensure construction interventions meet programmatic needs and achieve results for children.

Responsibilities

  • Preparation of construction annual workplan.
  • Collaboration with UNICEF Programme and coordination with Government counterparts.
  • Preparation of design and technical documents.
  • Support to procurement process.
  • Monitoring of construction projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor or equivalent (First Level University Degree) in Engineering-Civil, Engineering-Structural, Engineering, construction engineering, architecture and any other related fields.
  • At least 2 years of relevant work experience in Monitoring and Evaluation, Construction, Construction Management, Procurement, Contract Management, Site Supervision, Quality Assurance, Project Monitoring, Design Review, Stakeholder Coordination, Risk Management, Health and Safety, and any other related fields.
  • Analytical Negotiation, Resource Management, Team Supervision, Multicultural Collaboration, Strategic Policy Formulation, and Construction Project Management are required.
  • Fluency in English and Arabic is required.
  • Knowledge of another official UN language (Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is desirable.
  • Knowledge of UN Agency Experience, Public Procurement Knowledge, Green Building Standards, Emergency Response Experience, UNICEF Norms Knowledge, and Government Coordination Experience is considered assets.
  • Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.
