The Associate Banker contributes to all phases of the project cycle including origination, structuring, execution, implementation and monitoring with a focus on Green Finance aspects aligned with the Paris Agreement. The role involves due diligence, financial analysis, climate risk assessment, and supporting business development under the guidance of senior bankers.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to all aspects of project structuring and execution as a project team member, working with clients, consultants and other parties.
- Participate in climate assessment including compliance with Paris Agreement alignment methodology and climate risk assessment.
- Drive the scope and quality of project due diligence including financial, climate, market, integrity and EBRD policy compliance.
- Prepare internal project documentation such as approval memoranda, financial models, draft term sheets and presentations.
- Support deployment of concessional finance liaising with EBRD teams managing concessional programmes and donor funds.
- Ensure timely completion of tasks to a high standard in line with Bank policies and objectives.
- Assist with marketing and business development efforts as required.
- Develop transaction expertise and expand responsibilities towards operation leader roles on standard transactions under supervision.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred or equivalent experience in relevant areas.
- Professional qualification such as ACA, CFA, ACCA, or CIMA is desirable.
- Relevant financial industry experience from investment or commercial banks, private equity firms, asset management firms, or auditing/financial consulting firms operating to international standards.
- Strong quantitative and numerical skills with ability to interpret financial information and design/use financial models.
- Credit analysis skills including interpretation of accounts and understanding of local and international accounting principles and credit analysis practices.
- Understanding of physical and carbon transition climate risks and Paris Agreement alignment/Net-zero methodologies (e.g., EU Taxonomy, Science-Based Target initiative).
- Desirable understanding of technical and market decarbonisation challenges faced by Corporates in Manufacturing and Services sectors.
- Computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office and spreadsheet packages including financial analysis and modelling modules.
- Ability to work effectively as a team member, meet deadlines and work under time pressure.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
- Knowledge of one other language (especially French, Russian, Arabic, Turkish or German) is desirable.
- Previous exposure to manufacturing and services sectors is desirable.
- Previous exposure or understanding of development finance architecture including concessional/donor co-financing is desirable.
