See your match score & applyThe Director of the GCF/LINK Project will lead a transformative five-year initiative funded by the Green Climate Fund to improve the lives of 400,000 people affected by drought in Mozambique. This role involves strategic oversight of integrating climate change adaptation into social protection systems and leading project implementation across three provinces.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and visionary guidance to ensure all project components align with and exceed ambitious objectives.
- Lead the integration of climate change adaptation into Mozambique's social protection framework.
- Promote innovation and establish genuine partnerships to enhance project impact.
- Oversee effective implementation of project initiatives across the provinces of Tete, Manica and Gaza.
- Manage multicultural teams and coordinate with government representatives and other stakeholders.
- Ensure sustainable and high-impact results through strong project management and coordination.
- Adapt work schedules and responsibilities as needed in case of severe humanitarian emergencies.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as International Development, Environmental Sciences or related area (Master's degree is an advantage).
- Certification in Project Management (PMD-Pro, PMP, PRINCE2 or equivalent) is highly desirable.
- Experience working with international donors such as the Green Climate Fund (GCF), World Bank or USAID.
- At least 5 years of project management experience, preferably in climate change adaptation, disaster risk reduction or community development.
- Knowledge of climate change policy frameworks and international agreements (e.g., Paris Agreement, UNFCCC) is an asset.
- Proven experience managing multicultural teams and working in diverse cultural contexts.
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing complex projects or programs, ideally in climate adaptation and disaster risk reduction.
- Excellent understanding of climate change adaptation concepts and strategies, preferably with experience in Mozambique or similar contexts.
- Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills in English and Portuguese for coordination with Mozambique government representatives.
- Experience with district planning processes, especially directing investments for adaptation actions addressing vulnerable populations' needs.
- Previous experience with US government food aid programs, familiarity with USDA regulations and/or ability to quickly learn donor compliance standards is desirable.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to adapt to changing project requirements and priorities.
- Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills with proven experience building consensus among stakeholders.
- Ability to synthesize and analyze information to make clear and well-founded decisions.
- Ability to quickly establish effective working relationships internally and externally.
- Strong planning, management and coordination skills to organize a significant workload of complex and diverse tasks and responsibilities.
- Commitment to applying additional quality standards to support high-quality implementation and acting as a program excellence ambassador within Save the Children.
