The internship is located with the UNODC Regional Office for Afghanistan, Central Asia, Iran and Pakistan (ROCA) in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The intern will support programme implementation and operations activities including organizing meetings, drafting training materials, social media campaigns, data collection, and general administrative support for a six-month period.
Responsibilities
- Provide support to the organization of meetings, events and conferences, side events to strengthen strategic engagement with UN system partners.
- General support in processing, drafting and finalizing training materials.
- Provide assistance in social media campaigns.
- Support to develop communication materials based on good practices, impact example and achievements.
- Assist in data collection of science, technology and innovation practices.
- Conduct web research and provide analysis on science, technology and innovation and sustainable development issues.
- Add data to the databases.
- Provide support in operations, including finance, procurement, HR, general administration.
- Assist with archiving: prepare procurement materials for archiving, register the archived files, update the register of archived files.
Requirements
- Pursuing graduate degree in law, international relations, management, business administration, finance, social sciences or other relevant academic disciplines.
- Applicants must meet one of the following: (a) be enrolled in, or have recently completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have recently completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
- Be computer literate in standard software applications.
- Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter.
- Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, including willingness to understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
- Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience.
- A field of study closely related to the type of internship applied for is required.
- Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have recently completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or Ph.D. Programme.
- Successful candidates should provide an official certificate at a later stage.
