The Staff Officer (Medical Analyst) supports medical planning and coordination at the operational level within NATO's Joint Medical Division. The role involves collecting, analyzing, and providing medical information to support operational medical enablement and coordination across NATO and partner organizations.
Responsibilities
- Support the generation of the RMedP in conjunction with MPI and MIC Branch Staff requirements in line with SHAPE JMED requirements and direction.
- Act as JSEC JMED situational awareness focal point concerning organizational medical aspects and developments of current operational activities.
- Collect and gather medical information and analyze medical relevant reports and data.
- Provide MPI and MIC Branch Staff with medical information to support development of actionable steps and medical information sharing.
- Support MIC with operational input.
- Provide SME input and support during preparation and execution of missions.
- Provide Medical Lessons Identified input and support LI coordination.
- Coordinate current medical operational issues with other staff branches.
- Establish contacts and cooperation with NATO/National/multinational medical staffs, higher and adjacent HQs, national medical organizations and units, CIMIC organizations, and GOs/IOs/INGOs as required.
- Contribute to the JSEC Joint Operations Center shift system when assigned.
- May be required to perform similar duties elsewhere within the organization at the same grade without contract change.
- May be required to undertake deployments in support of military operations and exercises, and/or TDY assignments within and outside NATO boundaries, potentially exceeding 30 days duration.
Requirements
- University Degree in information technology, economics, statistics, operations research or related discipline and 2 years function related experience, or Higher Secondary education and completed advanced vocational training in that discipline leading to a professional qualification or professional accreditation with 4 years post related experience.
- Proven experience in Analytics including application of mathematics, statistics, predictive modeling and machine-learning techniques to discover meaningful patterns and knowledge in recorded data.
- Experience analyzing data with high volumes, velocities and variety (numbers, symbols, text, sound and image).
- Experience developing forward-looking, predictive, real-time, model-based insights to create value and drive effective decision-making.
- Experience identifying, validating and exploiting internal and external data sets generated from a diverse range of processes.
- English language proficiency at SLP 3333 (Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing).
- Ability to assess complex processes and propose actionable recommendations in a multinational team environment.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills and a creative approach to bridge complex challenges with regard to medical information exchange.
- Clarity of thought, sound consistent judgement and ability to deal with projects with confidentiality.
- Ability to be creative and flexible and willingness to enhance personal skills.
- Good health constitution and ability to work occasional outside normal office hours and travel as part of the appointment.
- Appointment subject to security clearance, approval of medical file by NATO Medical Adviser, verification of academic background and work experience.
