The Driver will provide effective and efficient day-to-day transport and logistical/administrative support for IOM programmes in Mendi. Responsibilities include driving IOM vehicles safely, maintaining vehicle logs, performing minor repairs, and ensuring compliance with security and transportation procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Drive IOM office vehicles in accordance with security and transportation procedures ensuring safe and timely arrival of passengers
  • Transport authorized personnel and IOM beneficiaries, and deliver/collect supplies, mail, documents and other items
  • Ensure cost-savings through proper use of assigned vehicle and maintain daily vehicle logs
  • Perform proper day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle including minor repairs and arranging major repairs
  • Keep record of spare parts and conduct monthly inventory
  • Maintain vehicle maintenance log and submit regular reports
  • Ensure regular service intervals and record vehicle maintenance history
  • Create, edit and present information using Microsoft Office tools
  • Ensure vehicle is used only for official business
  • Maintain confidentiality and discretion in discussions involving IOM
  • Take precautions to reduce security threats to IOM officials or property
  • Follow organizational and local rules in case of accidents
  • Encode and compile data related to vehicle mileage and monitor vehicle use
  • Deliver IOM documents, courier, medicine for beneficiaries as required
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor

Requirements

  • Completed secondary school diploma or Bachelor degree
  • Possess a Class six (6) driver’s license
  • Possess knowledge of driving rules and regulations
  • At least 3 years of driving experience with good safety driving records familiar of the locality in the area
  • Possess skills in minor repair
  • Flexible working hours, willingness to work at weekends and to extend if needed
  • Knowledge/experience with UN Security (radio checks, defensive driving) an advantage
  • Experience with radio equipment operations
  • Knowledge of Ms Office programs (Word, Excel etc)
  • Fluency Tok Pisin and English languages is required
