The Intern - Communications will assist in administrative tasks related to the implementation of IOM Chile communications, enhancing visibility and understanding of the IOM mission among media and general audiences. The role involves supporting digital content creation, social media management, event coverage, and communication campaigns to promote safe migration and IOM's objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in designing simple information, education, and communication materials, especially those related to the protection and rights of migrant workers.
  • Support in creating, updating, and organizing content for IOM Chile’s website and social media channels, including capturing and editing photos and videos and preparing basic multimedia materials to strengthen the Mission’s digital presence and overall visibility.
  • Assist with the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of digital communication campaigns.
  • Assist with coordinating with vendors to produce and translate communication materials into various languages.
  • Participate in community outreach and awareness activities that promote safe migration by supporting logistics or documentation.
  • Support programme visibility by supporting event coverage and assisting with media coordination.
  • Contribute to the development of content and communication products (messages, graphics, etc.) that inform audiences, stimulate reflection, and promote public discussion on key migration issues, to be used during special events, communication campaigns, and United Nations observances, ensuring alignment with IOM’s communication objectives.
  • Other associated activities that may be indicated by the supervisor.

Requirements

  • Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent), or in a Master's degree or higher in Communication, Journalism, Media Studies, Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies or a related field from an accredited academic institution; or have graduated with a university degree in Communication, Journalism, Media Studies, Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies or a related field, and if selected, must commence the internship within one year of graduation.
  • Experience in digital content creation, including graphic design, photography, videography, and audiovisual editing.
  • Experience with online communication, social media management and basic analytics.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with strong drafting, editing, formulation, and reporting abilities.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud Tools, in particular Adobe Illustrator, InDesign and/or PremierePro.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 tools.
  • Ability to perform administrative tasks and accurate data entry.
  • Knowledge of design approaches, tools, and methodologies.
  • Creativity, attention to detail, and openness to feedback.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a multicultural team environment.
  • Interest and willingness to strengthen technical communication skills and learn new tools.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish (oral and written).
