This consultancy aims to develop illustrated playful-pedagogical tools for children and adolescents to support emotional understanding, mitigate the impact of family separation, and promote well-being and participation rights. The tools will assist technical teams in applying special protection measures and facilitate communication with children in a culturally appropriate and accessible manner.

Responsibilities

  • Develop illustrated playful-pedagogical tools to support children and adolescents in understanding special protection measures and mitigate the impact of family separation.
  • Integrate psychosocial elements into tools to promote emotional processing and expression in children and adolescents.
  • Facilitate trust, reflection, and support environments for technical teams to accompany children and adolescents.
  • Ensure tools uphold children's rights to be informed about decisions affecting their lives.
  • Work within the framework of comprehensive child protection approaches promoted by the Ministry of the Family and UNICEF.
  • Use culturally relevant and socially focused illustrated stories as methodological strategies for special protection processes.
  • Translate complex concepts related to special protection measures, family separation, and reintegration into accessible and emotionally safe narratives for children and adolescents.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Education Sciences, Arts and Letters, Social Communication or related social sciences disciplines.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in technical consultancies or projects linked to the Nicaraguan public system, preferably in programs related to child care and protection, adolescent work, mental health, psychosocial support.
  • At least 5 years of experience in developing playful educational materials based on popular education.
  • Ability to implement playful methodologies with a pedagogical approach and conduct consultation or validation processes with children, adolescents, and families for reviewing and adjusting informative materials and playful tools.
  • At least 5 experiences in creating stories and educational materials aimed at children and adolescents with a comprehensive rights and emotional support approach.
  • Knowledge of the legal framework for child protection in Nicaragua.
  • Knowledge of family reunification, foster care, adoption, and transition to independent living processes.
  • Experience with protection, child safeguarding, gender, inclusion, and non-discrimination approaches.
  • Writing skills tailored for children and adolescents.
  • Ability to use simple, clear, and age-appropriate language.
  • Skill in creating characters with whom children can identify.
  • Use of hopeful narratives that convey safety, protection, and resilience.
  • Ability to explain complex concepts through metaphors, games, animals, adventures, or everyday situations.
  • Mastery of visual and narrative resources that enhance understanding.
  • Fluent Spanish, working language.
