The consultant will provide technical assistance to strengthen the Non Formal Education (NFE) agenda in Nepal, focusing on expanding alternative learning pathways, strengthening equivalency and certification frameworks, integrating foundational and transferable skills development, and enhancing system alignment between formal, non-formal, and skills development pathways.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical assistance to strengthen the Non Formal Education (NFE) agenda in Nepal.
- Expand alternative learning pathways (ALP) for out-of-school children and adolescents.
- Strengthen equivalency and certification frameworks.
- Integrate foundational and transferable skills development into NFE programmes.
- Enhance system alignment between formal, non-formal, and skills development pathways.
- Support UNICEF’s contribution to the School Education Sector Plan (SESP) and national priorities on equity, inclusion, and lifelong learning.
Requirements
- Master`s university degree in Education, Education Planning, Development Studies, or related field
- Minimum 10 years of experience in education, with a strong focus on: Non-formal education and alternative learning pathways, Skills development and/or TVET linkages, Education systems strengthening.
- Proven experience working in Nepal or similar contexts.
- Experience working with government systems and decentralized education structures.
- Strong understanding of NFE systems, equivalency frameworks, and lifelong learning.
- Strong understanding of skills development and certification systems.
- Strong understanding of inclusive and equitable education approaches.
- Excellent analytical, coordination, and facilitation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work with multiple stakeholders (government, NGOs, development partners).
- Excellent spoken and written skills in both Nepali and English.
- Prior work experience with UNICEF or other UN organizations is an asset.
- Technical proposal required including details on the approach used, timelines and expected objectives should be clearly mentioned.
