Principal Sustainable Solutions Specialist

The Principal Sustainable Solutions Specialist will lead efforts to support private sector development for climate resilience and low carbon outcomes in Asia-Pacific. The role involves strategy, operational support, knowledge sharing, and partnership development to mobilize private capital for climate actions.

Responsibilities

• Lead ADB’s efforts with PSD (RD), OMDP, PSOD, and Sector Departments to scale up private sector capital mobilization to maximize climate outcomes
• Work with PSD (RD), OMDP, SDs to conduct diagnostics and policy dialogue with government officials, financial institutions, and development partners to support strategic mobilization of technical assistance resources
• Support development of midstream and downstream pipeline opportunities and support PSD (RD) and PSOD in operations with substantial climate outcomes
• Lead processing and administration of technical assistance to support climate-focused activities across private sector development initiatives
• Lead development and dissemination of knowledge and innovation work and promote capacity building on climate relevant private sector action
• Establish ADB as a thought leader in private capital mobilization for climate actions by participating in landmark conferences and supporting senior management engagements
• Track and share best practices from regional and global markets
• Lead development and maintenance of relationships with external partners sharing best practices

Requirements

• Master’s degree, or equivalent in economics, finance, business administration, engineering, climate; or University degree and at least 5 years specialized experience relevant to the position can be considered
• At least 12 years work experience in the field of climate-related private sector project development, advisory, financing activities, preferably in the Asia and Pacific region
• International experience working in several countries
• Significant experience in private sector development, transaction advisory, risk mitigation, or debt / equity finance in climate change mitigation and adaptation projects
• Working experience with governments, investors, private equity funds, commercial banks, and international organizations
• Proven management and leadership qualities
• Familiarity with private investment operations, policies, and procedures of multilateral financial institutions is preferred
• Ability to utilize and share relevant knowledge to benefit the broader ADB community and support south-south knowledge transfer
• Must be a strong team player and an efficient negotiator
• Written and verbal proficiency in English and strong interpersonal skills
