The IRC seeks a professional nurse for the health program with experience in community health promotion and disease prevention, family planning counseling and placement, and working with vulnerable groups such as children, pregnant women, and women in mixed migration flows. The role requires knowledge and sensitivity regarding sexual and reproductive rights, maternal and child health, clinical care for survivors of gender-based violence, and voluntary interruption of pregnancy.
Responsibilities
- Ensure daily and comprehensive care of program users at different service points according to established services.
- Ensure health service delivery according to technical, ethical, and quality standards set by the Ministry of Health and Social Protection and IRC guidelines.
- Ensure timely and safe access to voluntary interruption of pregnancy (IVE) care, providing counseling and care under Colombian legal framework.
- Ensure post-IVE contraceptive insertion rate equal or above 90% according to program guidelines.
- Conduct comprehensive and timely follow-up of attended persons according to clinical protocols and care routes.
- Prepare pharmacological referral orders according to authorized medication list.
- Fill and sign referral forms for diagnostic support during care as appropriate.
- Ensure confidentiality, dignity, and respect of rights of persons accessing health services.
- Record all care provided completely, timely, and truthfully in electronic clinical history using IRC software.
- Consolidate and report daily statistics of care provided including diagnoses, procedures, and services.
- Deliver timely the Individual Health Service Provision Registry (RIPS) according to institutional guidelines.
- Correctly and timely fill notification forms for public health interest events for later upload to SIVIGILA platform.
- Prepare technical reports (daily, weekly, monthly) including care statistics and program progress.
- Support ethical, confidential, and technically sound data collection to strengthen program information management systems.
- Ensure programmatic quality of interventions through use, compliance, and monitoring of IRC processes, SOPs, and institutional tools.
- Comply with and enforce program and organizational protocols, technical guidelines, and procedures.
- Implement recommendations from supervision, program coordination, and management.
- Promote and support adherence to transversal program processes such as referrals, PQR, risk analysis, safeguarding, and other institutional mechanisms.
- Lead field implementation of IRC Community Mobilization Strategy ensuring proper documentation and socialization of progress, challenges, and improvement opportunities.
- Support educational sessions, promotion, prevention activities, and continuous training provided by the program.
- Coordinate activities related to donor visits, IRC personnel, media, and key actors ensuring proper organization and achievement of visit objectives.
- Manage and strengthen IRC relationships with partner organizations and local actors ensuring timely and relevant responses to emergent situations.
- Continuously map stakeholders to identify opportunities for strategic alliances.
- Lead field sectoral or multisectoral needs assessments contributing relevant information for program planning.
- Lead team movements and activities in the field coordinating with Operations to ensure compliance with IRC operational procedures and tools.
- Maintain updated context reading identifying relevant changes affecting security, humanitarian access, or program implementation.
- Report security incidents timely to immediate supervision according to institutional protocols.
- Be responsible for proper use, custody, and control of supplies, medical devices, and other elements assigned for function performance.
- Meet work plans, goals, indicators, and general schedule defined under the grant framework.
- Perform other functions assigned by immediate supervision according to program needs.
Requirements
- Professional nurse with professional license and registration in Rethus.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in care for pregnant women and preferably in clinical health settings.
- Experience working with vulnerable groups such as children, pregnant women, women in mixed migration flows, and extramural care.
- Knowledge in sexual and reproductive rights, family planning, maternal and child health, AIEPI strategy, voluntary interruption of pregnancy (IVE), clinical care for survivors of gender-based violence, nutrition, health promotion and disease prevention, and public health.
- Skills for group work, community work, and teamwork.
- Skills in written and verbal communication, effective and affective interpersonal relationships, teamwork, ease of expression, and fluent vocabulary.
- Attitudes of service to others, high tolerance in adverse situations, empathy, spontaneity to help and collaborate.
- Principles and values of solidarity, self-respect and respect for others, responsibility, integrity, transparency, honesty, and truthfulness.
- Valid certificates for courses: subdermal implant insertion, rapid testing for HIV, syphilis, hepatitis B, basic and advanced life support, cytology sampling or IUD insertion.
- Desirable courses: care for victims of sexual violence, care for victims exposed to chemical agents, patient safety, humanization of services.
