The Immigration and Border Governance Associate supports country offices in developing, implementing, and monitoring Immigration and Border Governance activities. The role involves administrative coordination, project support, knowledge management, and liaison with various stakeholders to promote effective migration governance.
Responsibilities
- Provide support to COs in developing, implementing, and monitoring Immigration and Border Governance (IBG) activities.
- Support the review, quality control of IBG project concept notes, reports, and proposals to ensure consistency, relevance, and feasibility, according to IOM's project development procedures.
- In coordination with the SRTS, monitor IBG-related developments in COs and support in developing project concept notes and proposals to support IBG interventions.
- Act as focal point for administrative coordination of the IBG Unit, involving liaison with diverse organizational units and external parties to initiate requests, obtain necessary clearances, follow-up on administrative actions, etc.
- In coordination with the SRTS, support regional knowledge management by organizing webinars, coordination meetings, workshops, and training sessions targeting IOM missions, government partners, and other stakeholders.
- Coordinate Unit information management, including updating archives, share points, project monitoring lists, and so on.
- Support with the implementation of regional and multi-country programmes and projects in the IBG thematic area, identifying synergies with other thematic areas in collaboration with HQ and other relevant stakeholders.
- Support the development and continuous update of knowledge tools, including training material, presentations, policy briefs, brochures, and so on, in areas related to the IBG thematic.
- Participate in meetings and conferences; maintain effective liaison and coordination with local authorities, partners, United Nation agencies, intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations, donors and other stakeholders relevant to the project.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
- Bachelors or equivalent or higher degree in Political or Social Science, International Relations, Business Administration or a related field from an accredited academic institution with four (4) years of relevant professional experience.
- High School diploma with six (6) years of relevant professional experience.
- Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.
- Experience in the field of migration issues, ideally with IOM.
- Desirable: Experience of collaborating in IBG projects and programmes.
- Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, and/or other national/international institutions and NGOs.
- Demonstrated expertise in thematic areas relevant to IBG project development.
- Knowledge of monitoring and evaluation.
- Government service in the thematic area is a distinct advantage.
- All IOM staff members in all categories are required to be fluent in one of the IOM's official languages (English, French, Spanish).
- Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
