E T Consultant - Data Scientist

The Data Scientist will support the AI for Outcomes program within the Department for Outcomes at the World Bank Group headquarters. The role involves developing and managing analytical tools and data products to strengthen the institution's ability to measure, interpret, and improve development outcomes, applying AI and advanced data science techniques.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the development of analytical tools and data products under the AI for Outcomes program, including building full stack applications using large language models for outcomes measurement and analysis.
• Translate complex analytical findings into clear, visually strong presentations, briefs, dashboards, and other outputs for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Support project management for development of full stack AI applications across analytical workstreams, coordinating inputs and tracking timelines.
• Support analytical and knowledge work related to outcomes metrics from operations, including aggregating results and monitoring development outcomes.
• Test new and existing outcome indicators to inform strategic decision platforms supporting World Bank Group senior leadership.
• Support development and tracking of outcome targets to inform evidence-based decisions on strategies and portfolios.
• Support additional work program priorities of the Department for Outcomes as needed.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in information systems/computer science, statistics, international development, political science, public administration, public policy, management, economics, or related field.
• At least five years of professional experience, with a clear progression of responsibility in delivering projects.
• Ability to bridge the gap between code and business value for senior stakeholders.
• Knowledge of software engineering best practices, including version control, modular design, testing, and reproducible workflows.
• Experience working with large datasets and modern data ecosystems, including SQL, distributed data processing, and cloud-based environments.
• Strong programming in Python, with ability to write efficient, well-structured code and work with complex and high-dimensional data structures.
• Expertise in architecting end-to-end analytical pipelines from data ingestion to user-facing applications.
• Hands-on experience integrating AI features into live web platforms, including managing real-time interactive dashboards.
• Ability to translate complex quantitative analysis into clear insights and communicate findings effectively to non-technical audiences.
• Highly organized and detail-oriented with a focus on producing high-quality deliverables.
• Strong project management skills, including managing multiple workstreams and coordinating across stakeholders.
• Ability to design clear, visually compelling briefs and knowledge products for non-technical audiences.
• Ability to work in multi-cultural environments and teams.
• Excellent command of written and spoken English.
