The Junior Food Technologist will support the implementation of Farmer Field School activities in Samegrelo Zemo-Svaneti under the Dairy and Fruit & Vegetable processing components of the project. The role involves organizing and delivering farmer trainings, supporting monitoring and evaluation activities, preparing reports, and assisting with procurement-related technical tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and deliver training sessions within Dairy and F&V Farmer Field Schools in Samegrelo.
  • Disseminate information about the project amongst dairy and F&V farmers in rural communities and explain the Farmer Field School approach.
  • Support the identification of new Lead Farmers in Samegrelo Zemo-Svaneti with whom to collaborate in the establishment of Farmer Field Schools, based on the criteria for selection of Lead Farmers.
  • Identify together with the Lead Farmer neighbour farmers who will participate in the Farmer Field Schools as Student Farmers.
  • Collect data using ZOHO about all field activities and surveys for the project, in coordination with Monitoring & Evaluation specialists.
  • Support the preparation of training materials and PPT presentations for the Farmer Field School sessions and master classes, updating and renewing the dairy/F&V processing curriculum, based on feedback from the farmers.
  • Implement pre and post tests after all trainings, and analyse the data of knowledge improvement.
  • Be aware in detail of the project activities, participate in all project coordination meetings, and propose adjustments and proposals for the regular revision of workplan, logframe, MEAL plan and Communication Plan.
  • Prepare draft narrative reports.
  • Prepare visibility materials, including human stories, articles and posts about the project activities.
  • Contribute to the preparation of procurement plans, and participate in the procurement process, including preparation of technical specifications, identification of possible suppliers, and provide technical revision of proposals as required.
  • Support the Head of the Project Office in Zugdidi on the management of storage.

Requirements

  • University degree in Food Technology
  • At least one year of experience in field work in food technology/ food safety
  • Working knowledge of English
  • National of Georgia
  • Demonstrated understanding of food technology with a focus on dairy and processed fruits and vegetables.
  • Excellent communication skills, proven ability to convey complex ideas through clear and effective oral presentations.
  • Good skills in community mobilization as well as inter-personal relations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as an effective team member
  • Ability to solve problems and adapt to changing situations in field
  • Computer literacy with spreadsheets, databases and electronic programmes is an asset.
  • Quality of both oral and written communication skills.
