See your match score & applyThe Data Scientist Programme Officer supports the development and roll-out of international standards and guidance on human trafficking administrative data, and the production of evidence based on such data. The role involves supporting consultative processes, training development, data integration, and research cooperation.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development of the first international standards and guidance on the definition, collection, management, and safe use of human trafficking data.
- Support the consultative process of data standard development with central government agencies and National Government Organizations (NGOs), in coordination with IOM and UNODC offices throughout (including bilateral consultations and workshops).
- Support the development and publication of a training curriculum for governments, based on the new data standards, including through publishing content on CTDC and other platforms.
- Ensure complementarity with, and contribution to, other IOM capacity building programmes, including the Essentials of Migration Management and data capacity building programmes led by IOM’s Global Migration Data Analysis Centre (GMDAC).
- Assist in organizing and facilitating trainings to government stakeholders as well as whole-of-society trainings using aforementioned curriculum as well as materials developed by the rest of the team.
- Support the development and expansion of the CTDC through the integration of new datasets, with a focus on organizations and countries targeted for trainings and capacity building.
- Contribute to the development of new content and features on priority topics and countries.
- Support the production of new knowledge products on priority policy topics with select research partners and other stakeholders.
- Contribute to the production of research products and tools and coordinate research cooperation with other partners.
- Undertake duty travel, as necessary.
- Perform such other duties as may be assigned.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Migration Studies, Economics, International Relations, Law, Development Studies, International Affairs, Political Science or a related field from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant professional experience; or, Bachelor's degree in the above fields with four years of relevant professional experience.
- Experience in research and data analysis, including both quantitative and qualitative methods.
- Experience supporting data-related projects or initiatives, including data collection, processing, or reporting.
- Experience contributing to knowledge products or research outputs, such as reports, briefs, or analytical papers.
- Experience supporting stakeholder engagement activities, such as consultations, workshops, or trainings with partners.
- Experience with human trafficking preferred.
- Demonstrated research background with knowledge/experience of quantitative and qualitative analysis.
- Demonstrated drafting and reporting skills, including preparation of technical and analytical documents.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and with diverse stakeholders, including government and partner organizations.
- Excellent knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint and Word; knowledge of statistical analysis software such as SPSS, R or STATA.
- Fluency in English (oral and written) is required.
- Working knowledge of French or Spanish is an advantage.
