The Principal Reward Specialist leads the design and communication of effective reward policies and programs for international and local staff at ADB Headquarters and field offices. The role ensures a balanced and market-competitive total reward package to attract, motivate, and retain talent, contributing to broader HR and business initiatives on reward-related aspects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and implementation of effective compensation policies and programs for international and local staff at HQ and across ADB's field offices.
  • Lead reviews and recommend changes to ensure alignment of compensation policies with ADB's Strategic HR Framework and reward guiding principles.
  • Oversee periodic benchmarking review of ADB's salary levels and development of salary ranges.
  • Design and oversee the annual salary review process and implementation of salary increases at HQ and field offices, ensuring IT systems support.
  • Ensure clear communication to staff on compensation policies and processes.
  • Lead preparation of annual budget reviews for compensation elements of the reward package.
  • Lead design and implementation of benefits and allowance policies for international and local staff, ensuring alignment with ADB's Strategic HR Framework and reward guiding principles.
  • Oversee periodic benchmarking review of benefits and allowances and develop proposals for enhancements.
  • Ensure clear communication to staff on benefits and allowances policies and processes.
  • Lead preparation of annual and mid-year budget reviews for benefits and allowances.
  • Participate in job evaluation processes to ensure consistent measurement of ADB positions for job grading decisions.
  • Ensure job size and grading decisions are integrated into salary benchmarking exercises.
  • Manage the Reward Policy team, supervising team members.
  • Manage performance of reporting staff, provide direction, monitoring, feedback, and ensure ongoing learning and development.
  • Handle complex or unconventional reward-related questions and problems from clients and colleagues.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Business or Public Administration, Human Resources, Organizational Development, Economics, Social Sciences, or related fields; University degree in Business or Public Administration, Human Resources, Economics, Social Sciences, or related fields combined with at least 5 years of specialized experience in similar organizations can be considered.
  • At least 12 years' relevant experience in various facets of human resource management, with international experience working in several countries, preferably in international development finance institutions or multinational organizations.
  • Preferably affiliated with and/or certified/accredited by recognized professional HR related associations such as CIPD, IPMA, ASTD, etc.
  • Demonstrated combined experience in designing reward policies across multiple countries, market benchmarking, budgeting and financial modeling skills related to compensation and benefits.
  • Strong supervisory skills, multidisciplinary competence, and ability to organize, lead and manage a team.
