The Senior Director, Community Response Operations provides strategic leadership and oversight of regionally-managed level 1 response operations. The role ensures consistent program delivery aligned with organizational priorities and integrates community response and recovery operations into the overall business plan.
Responsibilities
- Formulate community response operations strategy and evaluate program activities to ensure consistency with organizational direction.
- Ensure consistent delivery, quality, and growth of community response operations programs and integration with other programs.
- Review program progress toward objectives and recommend changes based on business needs.
- Develop and implement short and long-term strategies to integrate community response operations priorities into the overall business plan and manage execution.
- Hire, manage, and evaluate direct and indirect staff.
- Direct staff in development and implementation of departmental policies, procedures and programs.
- Engage volunteers meaningfully.
- Collaborate proactively with cross-functional colleagues to align strategies and support complementary program initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Minimum 10 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required.
- 7 years of management experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to think critically and strategically required.
- Ability to develop and implement an organizational vision integrating key American Red Cross goals, priorities, values, and other factors.
- Ability to balance change and continuity to improve customer focus and organizational performance within the Red Cross framework.
- Ability to create a work environment that encourages innovation and maintain focus, intensity and persistence under adversity.
- Ability to design and implement strategies to develop direct reports and others, foster integrity and trust, and make timely and effective decisions.
- Demonstrated ability to acquire and administer human, financial, material, and information resources to instill public trust and use new technology to enhance decision making.
- Ability to explain, advocate and express facts and ideas convincingly and negotiate with individuals and groups internally and externally.
- Ability to develop an expansive professional network with other organizations and identify internal and external politics impacting the organization.

- Must be able to read situations quickly and listen with focus.
- Ability to work on a team.
- Travel may be required 10-20%.
