The Driver provides reliable and safe driving services, ensuring the safe and timely transportation of staff, officials and visitors, and the efficient maintenance of vehicles owned or rented by the office. This role supports the efficient running of the office and strengthens UNICEF’s capacity in delivering programmes for vulnerable women and children in Zambia.

Responsibilities

  • Drive office vehicles for the transport of UN staff, officials, visitors and delivery and collection of mail, documents and other items.
  • Meet official personnel and visitors at the airport and assist with basic visa and customs formalities and arrangements when required.
  • Ensure vehicle is kept in good running condition at all times through addressing minor repairs, making arrangements for major repairs, timely changes of oil, check of tires, brakes, water levels, and car washing.
  • Document vehicle-related information.
  • Ensure availability of all required documents/supplies including vehicle insurance, vehicle registration, vehicle logs, map of the city/country, first aid kit, tool kit, and necessary spare parts in the assigned vehicle.
  • Keep track of insurance and other tax formalities.

Requirements

  • Secondary Education in any related fields.
  • At least 2 years of relevant work experience in Transportation, Logistics, Fleet Management, Vehicle Maintenance, Road Safety, Administrative Support, Customer Service, Courier Services, Travel Support, Protocol, and any other related fields.
  • Confidentiality, Professionalism, Reliable, Safe, Sense of Responsibility, Fluency in English.
  • Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is desirable.
  • Defensive Driving Training is desirable.
  • Knowledge of Local Geography is desirable.
  • Embassy experience is desirable.
  • Vehicle Repair skills are desirable.
  • First Aid training is desirable.
  • Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts is desirable.
