The Information Technology Officer will lead and coordinate all Technology for Development (T4D) initiatives, ensuring technology is effectively designed, implemented, and governed to support program implementation, learning, accountability, and scale. The role focuses on integrating appropriate digital solutions across sectors, strengthening organizational capacity to use technology responsibly, and ensuring alignment with Save the Children's global T4D strategies and standards.
Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate all Technology for Development (T4D) initiatives to ensure effective design, implementation, and governance of technology supporting program implementation, learning, accountability, and scale.
- Focus on integrating appropriate digital solutions across sectors and strengthening organizational capacity to use technology responsibly.
- Ensure alignment with Save the Children's global T4D strategies and standards.
- Work closely with Programme, MEAL, Finance, and Operations teams to ensure digital tools are fit for purpose, contextually appropriate, data protection compliant, and contribute significantly to outcomes for children and communities.
- Provide operational IT support for the Ituri base, ensuring availability, maintenance, and security of IT equipment, systems, and connectivity in direct support of field operations and support teams.
Requirements
- Certification and/or university degree in information technology, computer science or related field.
- Minimum 5+ years of IT service management experience, preferably in a large independent organization, with at least 3 years in a team lead or mid-level position.
- Experience in IT support in a humanitarian or complex operational environment.
- Experience managing multi-site operations including low connectivity areas.
- Ability to provide field support in difficult conditions and respond quickly to critical incidents.
- Advanced knowledge of Word, Excel, Access, Adobe and other software.
- Knowledge of server management in Windows and Linux environments, virtualization, and network management.
- Knowledge of SharePoint design including workflows and HTML.
- Familiarity with cloud computing platforms such as Azure.
- Knowledge and understanding of IT security concepts and principles.
- Ability to work independently, take personal initiative, and multitask, including strong facilitation skills in a dynamic and evolving environment.
- Excellent written and spoken English skills.
- Strong administrative and organizational skills.
- Ability to coach others and work in a team.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in insecure environments.
- Experience managing facilities regarding multiple simultaneous sites.
- Flexibility and willingness to work under difficult and frustrating conditions.
- Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children's goals, values, and principles.
- Proficiency in English.
- Ability and willingness to travel regularly to the field.
