The Communications Associate (Graphic Designer) supports the development of visual assets and knowledge products for diverse audiences, ensuring brand consistency across materials produced by the Country Office and external partners. The role involves design, production, quality assurance, and management of visual communications materials to showcase WFP's work and support strategic objectives in the Philippines.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain visual design standards for the Country Office, ensuring consistency and quality across all materials produced by or on behalf of WFP Philippines.
  • Develop and maintain design templates, style guides, and asset libraries in alignment with WFP global brand standards and visual identity guidelines.
  • Ensure all design outputs adhere to WFP branding requirements, including the correct use of logos, color palettes, typography, and iconography.
  • Provide guidance to colleagues and external vendors on the application of WFP visual identity standards.
  • Maintain a versioned library of design assets, templates, and final files accessible to the Country Office team.
  • Design and produce donor-facing products, corporate reports, presentations, and advocacy materials in line with WFP brand and style standards.
  • Develop visual assets for internal and external communications, including infographics, social media assets, and campaign materials.
  • Provide design support for WFP events, launches, and advocacy activities.
  • Serve as the primary in-house design liaison with external partners, stakeholders, and creative vendors engaged by WFP Philippines.
  • Communicate design standards, brand requirements, and creative briefs to external partners and vendors on behalf of WFP, ensuring alignment with both WFP and partner branding guidelines where applicable.
  • Review partner and vendor outputs for design consistency, with technical content reviewed by the relevant unit and the final visual look cleared by Communications before endorsement to the Country Director.
  • Coordinate with external stakeholders, including government, cooperating partners, and creative firms, throughout the production cycle to manage revision rounds and ensure timely delivery of quality outputs.
  • Conduct quality checks on all design outputs prior to submission or publication, including resolution verification, color accuracy, layout integrity, and brand compliance.
  • Maintain version control of all design files and final outputs, ensuring traceability of revisions across projects.
  • Perform any other design and communications tasks as may be reasonably requested by the Communications Officer in support of the PCR team and the broader Country Office.

Requirements

  • Completion of secondary school education is required.
  • A bachelor’s degree in graphic design, visual communication, fine arts, multimedia arts, or a closely related field is highly desirable.
  • Specialized training or certification in instructional design, visual communication for development, or social behavior change communication is an advantage.
  • A minimum of six (6) years of relevant professional experience in graphic design, visual communication, or a related field, particularly in the design of educational, health, or development communication materials.
  • Proficiency with the Adobe Creative Suite (including InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop etc.), and Canva Pro is required.
  • Experience or familiarity with nutrition, food security, livelihood, or skills and productivity programming is an advantage, particularly in the context of social protection or community-based programmes.
  • Demonstrated experience designing materials for low-literacy and/or marginalized populations in a development or humanitarian context.
  • Experience working with UN agencies, NGOs, or government programs in the Philippines is desirable.
  • Experience coordinating with external vendors or creative firms is an advantage.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Filipino (Tagalog)
