Blood Collection Staff – Customer Service

The Blood Collection Staff – Customer Service role involves traveling to donation sites, setting up equipment, welcoming donors, performing blood collections after training, and ensuring safety and compliance. This position requires physical activity and strong customer service skills, with full paid training provided.

Responsibilities

• Transport and set up equipment to turn everyday spaces into professional donation centers.
• Work as a team to set up and tear down equipment required to conduct mobile blood drives.
• Welcome donors, listen to their stories, and help them feel comfortable and valued.
• Perform safe, high-quality blood collections once fully trained in phlebotomy techniques.
• Follow all safety procedures and regulatory requirements to ensure every donation meets quality standards and can be safely transfused.
• Pack up equipment and leave each site knowing the blood collected could reach a patient within days.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Customer service experience and effective verbal communication skills.
• Current, valid driver’s license with a good driving record; reliable personal transportation may be required in certain locations.
• Basic computer skills required; proficiency with Microsoft Office applications required.
• Ability to lift, push, or pull heavy weights up and down ramps and stairs.
• Good manual dexterity.
• Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
• Ability to adapt to long, irregular hours and frequent schedule changes.
• Minimum height of 60 inches (required to safely operate Red Cross vehicles).
• Preferred but not required: prior healthcare or phlebotomy experience (CNA, MA, EMT, etc.).
• Preferred but not required: prior leadership experience.
• Preferred but not required: experience in retail, hospitality, food service, military service, or other people-focused roles.
