The MHPSS Officer will lead and supervise the implementation of psychosocial project activities in Aswan, ensuring high-quality delivery of mental health and psychosocial support interventions for refugee and migrant survivors. The role includes technical support, coordination with stakeholders, monitoring, reporting, and ensuring compliance with SCI policies and donor requirements.
Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the implementation of the MHPSS interventions inside the project, ensuring high quality deliverables are developed and implemented, and fulfil obligations to stakeholders.
- Provide regular structured supervision to MHPSS team to ensure high-quality evidence-based psychosocial interventions.
- Provide expert and technical support for team staff to ensure timely and quality psychosocial activities.
- Support mainstreaming of MHPSS interventions across relevant project components and make regular field visits to review performance.
- Ensure project operates according to work plans, budget, timeline and M&E system.
- Revise and approve monthly field activities plans.
- Monitor quality of field activities and ensure innovative techniques for children’s participation.
- Maintain coordination with other project teams for comprehensive support to beneficiaries.
- Ensure psychological interventions are informed by current scientific evidence.
- Monitor expenditures of MHPSS interventions monthly.
- Support mainstreaming of SCI Child Safeguarding policy in all activities.
- Make regular field visits and document to review team performance.
- Ensure ongoing professional development and management of staff.
- Ensure expenditures are within budget and follow SCI and donor policies.
- Draft concise, analytical reports, case studies, and other documents as needed.
- Regular reporting to project manager with project updates.
- Organize and maintain project filing system.
- Ensure proper documentation of MHPSS interventions, especially individual counseling sessions.
- Coordinate with MEAL person to support project assessment activities.
- Compile quantitative and qualitative reports monthly and quarterly.
- Ensure program monitoring/learning feeds into program design alterations.
- Collaborate with MHPSS TA and solicit advice and feedback.
- Maintain communication with other project officers for coordination across projects.
- Support project manager in establishing relationships with donors, partners, government authorities, private sector and other actors.
- Network with partners to support project beneficiaries.
- Promote children's rights and protection in emergencies guided by humanitarian principles.
- Act to facilitate SCI’s emergency response and show flexibility to support interventions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Psychology; having master’s degree is preferable.
- Minimum of 4-5 years of experience in development/humanitarian aid; previous experience in Psychosocial support and understanding of SGBV guiding principles field is required.
- Previous management experience is required.
- Highly developed interpersonal, communication skills, writing and organizational skills.
- Good training and facilitation skills.
- Fluency in English and Arabic (spoken and written) is required.
- Previous experience working with refugee/marginalized communities is required; preferably with previous experience working with UASC.
