The HMA Team Member implements Explosive Ordnance Risk Education (EORE) activities within the DRC HDP Programme in Syria. Responsibilities include delivering EORE sessions, supporting coordination and community liaison, developing materials, maintaining records, and ensuring compliance with quality standards and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct direct EORE sessions for adults, adolescent, and children according to DRC HDP SOPs, using standard and approved methodologies.
  • Distribute EORE informational materials as instructed.
  • Support HMA workshops, events, and other public events organised by DRC.
  • Conduct Community Liaison with local communities.
  • Assist the development of EORE informational materials, methodologies, and tools.
  • Support EORE Training of Trainers for local stakeholders.
  • Support procurement efforts upon request, including developing required documentation.
  • Contribute to lessons learnt reports on EORE activities.
  • Cooperate during EORE monitoring and Quality Assurance/Quality Control.
  • Collect and report on EORE data accurately and timely.
  • Assist the EORE Team Leader in planning EORE tasks.
  • Comply with timelines, deadlines, quality standards and SOPs.
  • Follow all safety SOPs in Syria and communicate security situation changes.
  • Maintain working relations with local authorities and communities.
  • Ensure and maintain equipment in good condition and report damages.
  • Perform any other tasks assigned by Team Leader and Technical Field Manager.
  • Participate in development of activity workplans and follow them accordingly.
  • Actively participate in internal EORE team meetings and share updates.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge on context including Explosive Ordnance contamination.

Requirements

  • Certificate/Accreditation of successful completion of EORE training course by a recognised Mine Action Training Establishment or Organisation.
  • Knowledge of Mines and UXO encountered in Syria (Basic EO recognition).
  • Understanding of EO contamination size and problem in Syria.
  • Knowledge about MA stakeholders and partners in Syria.
  • Knowledge of local communities; actual inhabitants of these areas are preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of MS Office programs.
  • Good organisational skills.
  • Good communicational skills.
  • Excellent ability to work in team.
  • At least 1 year of proven previous experience in EORE and/or community Liaison (desirable).
  • Secondary/High school education.
  • Fluent in Arabic and English.
